Spanish is Awesome Part 1 | Efectos Vocales

While the correct pronunciation of the 5 Spanish vowels may not come naturally to Native English speakers at first, there are only 5 of them, and (with very few exceptions**) they always are pronounced the same way!  Take the time to practice saying these vowels correctly again and again, and don't be afraid to feel like you're exaggerating the correct pronunciation.  Spanish vowels are less subtle than English vowels.  If you put in the practice and learn how to consistently pronounce the Spanish vowels correctly, it will make your Spanish sound more natural and easy to understand.

Because Spanish has so few vowel sounds, there are a lot more words which have only one vowel.  At 2:15, you can hear a cover of "Efectos Vocales" by Nach, a rap which uses only the vowel A!

Trabaja, plasma las palabras, hazlas balas.
Atrapa ráfagas, sal, machaca cada sala.
Ladra hasta rasgar la garganta.
Saca las garras, las armas
Las gradas harán palmas
La fama tarda, patán. Jamás hallarás paz.
Amargas caras largas arrastran la maldad.
Andarás a rastras, pagarás caras las cagadas.
Las carcajadas sabrán saladas.
Tras tantas trampas, tras, tanta jarana
Tantas falsas alabanzas, tras, tantas caladas

**Exceptions: The u is silent when between a g or q and an e or an i: guitarra, sigue, quince, que
The u usually sounds like a w when next to another vowel: cuando, auto
The i usually sounds like a y when next to another vowel: hielo, veinte
