4th of July

June 28, 2015

4th of july outfit It's not the 4th of July without fireworks, swimming pools, something on a grill smelling like your childhood, and ubiquitous nods to the American flag covering people's bodies. I am partial to rather subtle variations, like this one from last year, where suddenly red was salmon and blue was indigo-purple.

What are your favorite ways to incorporate the 'Merica theme into your attire?

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Sin fuegos artificiales, albercas, algo en el asador oliendo a tu infancia, y gente intentando parecerse de alguna manera a la bandera de USA, simplemente no es el 4 de Julio. En cuanto a vestuario, a mi lo que me mueve son las variaciones sutiles, como esta del año pasado, donde de repente el rojo es salmón y el azul es lila.
Y a ti, ¿de qué manera te gusta incorporar los colores de la bandera dentro de tu atuendo?
DIY Halloween costumes RULE!
For me, 90% of the fun of Halloween comes from the process of creating your getup. I delight in every step—from the conceptualization to the visualization to the planning to the execution. I find no joy in picking up a ‘sexy nurse’ costume from one of those random Halloween stores that pop up out of nowhere (can we discuss how bizarre this is?). I say it’s all about repurposing items you already have, borrowing a piece from a friend, creating something all your own: crafting, cutting, gluing, painting, sewing, whatever it takes to make your costume completely satisfying and totally unique. And best of all—made by YOU! “But we are adults now”, you say. “I have other more important things to do with my time”, you say. I say don’t knock it until you try it, until you experience that amazing moment when you look at yourself in the mirror and see that all of your insane ideas and crazy creations have materialized and are working together to disguise your entire being. That is the power of creativity. I challenge you to go out on a creative limb—if not this year, then next year. You have about 365 days to think about it :)
Enjoy your Halloween, my pretties!
What Halloween look that you’ve created are you most proud of?
Also, which one of these looks would you be interested in seeing a tutorial on:
Cruella, The Corpse Bride, Maleficent, or Barbie?
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
